Family Temple

At the heart of every house compound including at Lily Lane, there is the family temple, known as the sanggah. This shrine holds a central place in Balinese religious practices, as it is dedicated to the deified ancestors of the family. The temple is used for daily offerings and prayers. Guests are welcome to participate in ceremonies here or in the village temple including assisting guests with appropriate cultural etiquette and clothing.

Sustainability

We are a proud partner of the Australian Government’s Consortium for ‘In Country’ Indonesian Studies – Sustainable Tourism program. As an expert in the field of sustainable tourism, we provide a practicum placement which provides students with the opportunity to gain an understanding of the social, cultural and political systems that underpin the tourism industry in Indonesia and practical skills in hospitality and management.

Life in Lily Lane is guided by the simple philosophy of 'Think Global, Act Local'. Our commitment to recycling glass and plastic waste in the village also provides income for our families.

Rotary

Rotary Club of Bali Ubud Sunset (RCBUS) meetings are hosted by Lily Lane Villas, every two weeks. You would be most welcome to join the English-speaking meeting to learn of the fabulous projects in which locals and expats are involved. These include water tanks for remote villages; protection of orangutan habitat in Kalimantan and Sewing for Living: teaching sewing, knitting and crochet skills to local women. You don’t need to be a member to attend a meeting.
